Method
Noodle Preparation
- 1
Cook Lasagna Noodles
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the lasagna noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside on a parchment-lined baking sheet to prevent sticking.
Meat Sauce Preparation
- 2
Prepare the Meat Sauce
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in the marinara sauce, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Reduce heat to low and let simmer for 15 minutes.
Cheese Mixture Preparation
- 3
Mix the Cheese Filling
In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, chopped parsley, and salt. Stir until well blended and set aside.
Assembly
- 4
Layer the Lasagna
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom. Place 3-4 lasagna noodles over the sauce, followed by half of the ricotta cheese mixture, half of the meat sauce, and a layer of mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers, finishing with noodles, remaining meat sauce, and topping with mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese.
Baking
- 5
Bake the Lasagna
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden. Let the lasagna sit for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
