Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Chop the onion, garlic, and sweet bell peppers. Rinse and drain the kidney and black beans.

Cooking

  1. 2

    Cook the Ground Beef

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.

  2. 3

    Sauté Vegetables

Add the chopped onion, garlic, and sweet bell peppers to the skillet with the beef. Sauté for an additional 5 minutes until the vegetables are soft.

  3. 4

    Combine Ingredients

Transfer the beef and vegetable mixture into a slow cooker. Add the kidney beans, black beans, diced tomatoes, chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper.

  4. 5

    Add Liquids

Pour in the beef broth and stir well to combine all the ingredients.

  5. 6

    Slow Cook

Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or high for 3-4 hours, until the chili is thickened and flavors are melded.

Serving

  1. 7

    Serve the Chili

Once cooked, ladle the beef chili into bowls. Top with shredded cheddar cheese and serve with tortilla chips on the side.
