Pasta

Method

Pasta Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Penne

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the penne pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

  2. 2

    Drain the Pasta

Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside. Do not rinse the pasta, as this will wash away the starch that helps the sauce adhere.

Tomato Sauce Preparation

  1. 3

    Sauté Garlic

In a large saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

  2. 4

    Add Tomatoes and Spices

Add the canned diced tomatoes, dried basil, dried oregano, sugar, salt, and black pepper to the saucepan. Stir well to combine all ingredients.

  3. 5

    Simmer the Sauce

Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.

  4. 6

    Finish the Sauce

Stir in the chopped fresh basil leaves into the sauce just before serving.

Assembly

  1. 7

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained penne pasta to the saucepan with the tomato sauce. Toss gently to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.

  2. 8

    Serve

Divide the pasta into serving bowls. Top with grated Parmesan cheese and garnish with fresh basil leaves. Enjoy your Albert Einstein Penne!
