Preparation of Sauce
- 1
Make the Teriyaki Sauce
In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the sauce begins to thicken slightly. Remove from heat and let it cool.
Cooking Salmon
- 2
Prepare the Salmon
Preheat the grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. Pat the salmon fillet dry with a paper towel and season lightly with salt and pepper. Brush half of the teriyaki sauce over the fillet.
- 3
Cook the Salmon
Place the salmon fillet on the grill or skillet, skin side down. Cook for about 4-5 minutes, then carefully flip it over and brush the remaining teriyaki sauce on top. Cook for another 4-5 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork.
Preparing Vegetables
- 4
Steam Vegetables
While the salmon is cooking, in a steamer basket over boiling water, steam the broccoli florets, sliced carrots, and bell pepper for about 5-7 minutes, or until tender-crisp.
Serving
- 5
Plate the Dish
Serve the grilled teriyaki salmon over a bed of steamed rice. Arrange the steamed vegetables on the side and sprinkle sesame seeds on top for garnish.
