Method
Preparing the Fries
- 1
Preheat Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 180°C (350°F).
- 2
Fry the Potatoes
Carefully add the frozen French fries to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 4-6 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- 3
Drain and Season
Remove the fries from the oil using a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. While still hot, sprinkle with salt to taste.
Assembling the Chili Cheese Fries
- 4
Layer the Fries
On a large serving platter or baking sheet, spread the hot, crispy fries evenly.
- 5
Add Cheese and Jalapeños
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese generously over the fries, followed by the sliced jalapeños.
- 6
Melt the Cheese
Place the platter under a broiler for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Keep a close eye to prevent burning.
- 7
Garnish and Serve
Remove from the oven and top with chopped green onions and a dollop of sour cream. Serve immediately while hot.
