For the BBQ Pork

Marinate the Pork
In a bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, black pepper, five-spice powder, and vegetable oil. Mix well.

Prepare the Pork
Add the pork shoulder to the marinade, ensuring it is fully coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.

Prepare the Pickling Solution
In a bowl, whisk together rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until the sugar dissolves.

Pickle the Vegetables
Add the julienned carrots and daikon radish to the pickling solution. Let them sit for at least 30 minutes, or refrigerate for a few hours for more flavor.

Assemble the Sandwich
Slice the French rolls lengthwise without cutting all the way through. Spread a generous amount of aioli on both sides.

Serve the Banh Mi sandwiches fresh, alongside the fries.

Soak the cut potatoes in water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch, then drain and pat dry.
