Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Walleye

Pat the Walleye fillets dry with a paper towel. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Bread the Walleye

Set up a breading station with three bowls: one for flour, one for beaten eggs, and one for walnut bread crumbs. First, dredge each fillet in flour, then dip it in the egg, and finally coat it with walnut bread crumbs. Ensure the fillets are evenly coated.

  3. 3

    Fry the Walleye

In a large frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the breaded Walleye fillets and fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the pan and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

  4. 4

Make the Honey Orange Butter Sauce

In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add honey and orange juice, whisking until combined. Let it simmer for a few minutes until slightly thickened. Season with salt to taste.

  5. 5

    Prepare the Spinach

In a separate skillet, lightly sauté the fresh spinach with a drizzle of olive oil until just wilted, about 2-3 minutes.

  6. 6

    Plate the Dish

On each plate, arrange a bed of wilted spinach and place the fried Walleye fillet on top. Drizzle with the honey orange butter sauce and serve immediately.
