Crab Cakes
Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Mixture
In a large mixing bowl, gently combine the blue crab meat, corn, diced red and green bell peppers, chopped onion, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, and beaten egg. Mix until well combined. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- 2
Add Breadcrumbs
Gradually fold in the bread crumbs until the mixture holds together but is not overly dry. You may adjust the amount of bread crumbs as necessary.
- 3
Form the Cakes
Using your hands, shape the crab mixture into patties, about 3 inches in diameter. Place them on a plate and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to help them set.
- 4
Cook the Crab Cakes
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the crab cakes in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- 5
Serve
Remove the crab cakes from the skillet and drain on paper towels. Serve warm with house-made remoulade or your favorite dipping sauce.
