Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Clean and Prepare Calamari

Rinse the calamari under cold water. Remove the outer skin, beak, and innards. Cut the body into rings about 1/2 inch thick and leave the tentacles whole.

  2. 2

    Prepare Hot Peppers

Remove the stems from the hot red peppers and slice them thinly. If you prefer less heat, remove the seeds.

  3. 3

    Minced Garlic

Peel and finely mince the garlic cloves.

  4. 4

    Season Flour

In a bowl, mix the all-purpose flour with salt and black pepper.

  5. 5

    Chop Parsley

Finely chop the fresh parsley and set aside.

Cooking

  1. 6

    Heat Oil

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until hot.

  2. 7

    Dredge Calamari

Toss the calamari rings and tentacles in the seasoned flour until well coated.

  3. 8

    Fry Calamari

Carefully add the floured calamari to the hot oil. Fry for about 2-3 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Be careful not to overcrowd the pan; fry in batches if necessary.

  4. 9

    Add Peppers and Garlic

Once the calamari is cooked, add the sliced hot peppers and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  5. 10

    Drain and Serve

Remove the calamari and peppers from the skillet and drain on a paper towel. Transfer to a serving platter, sprinkle with chopped parsley, and serve with lemon wedges.
