Method
Cooking the Pasta

Boil Water
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil over high heat.

Cook the Capellini
Add the capellini pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 2-4 minutes.

Drain the Pasta
Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside, reserving a cup of pasta water.
Making the Sauce

Heat the Olive Oil
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil and heat until shimmering.

Add Crushed Tomatoes
Pour in the crushed tomatoes and stir to combine. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes.

Stir in Cream
Lower the heat and add the heavy cream, stirring until the sauce is smooth and pink. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
Combining Ingredients

Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the drained capellini to the skillet with the sauce. Toss gently to coat the pasta evenly. If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water a little at a time until desired consistency is reached.

Add Toppings
Add the sliced prosciutto, grated parmesan, and chopped basil to the pasta. Toss gently until everything is well combined.
Serving

Plate and Serve
Serve the pink pasta immediately, garnished with additional parmesan and basil if desired.
