Preparation

  1. 1

    Juice the Grapefruit

Cut a fresh grapefruit in half and use a juicer or reamer to extract 2 oz of fresh grapefruit juice. Strain to remove any pulp if desired.

  2. 2

    Prepare Simple Syrup

In a small saucepan, combine equal parts sugar and water (1:1 ratio), bring to a boil, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Allow it to cool before using. You will need 0.5 oz for this recipe.

Mixing

  1. 3

    Combine Ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, combine the 12 oz of Downeast Cider, 2 oz of fresh grapefruit juice, and 0.5 oz of simple syrup. Stir gently to mix the ingredients.

  2. 4

    Pour into Glass

Fill a glass with ice and pour the combined mixture over the ice, leaving some space at the top.

Garnishing

  1. 5

    Garnish the Drink

Add a slice of grapefruit to the rim of the glass and drop in the fresh mint leaves for a refreshing aroma.
