Sausage Patty and Accompaniments

Method

Preparation and Cooking

  1. 1

    Prepare the Coleslaw

In a bowl, combine the coleslaw mix with coleslaw dressing. Mix well and set aside in the refrigerator while you prepare the rest of the meal.

  2. 2

    Cook the Sausage Patty

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium heat. Shape the sweet sausage into two patties. Grill or cook the patties for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until fully cooked through.

  3. 3

    Sauté Onions and Peppers

While the patties are cooking, slice the onion and bell pepper. In a separate skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and peppers, season with salt and pepper, and sauté until they are soft and slightly caramelized, about 5-6 minutes.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Sandwich

Place a cooked sausage patty on each grilled bun. Top with sautéed onions and peppers, and sprinkle cheddar cheese on top. If desired, place the assembled sandwiches back on the grill for a minute to melt the cheese.

  5. 5

    Serve

Serve the sausage patties on buns with a generous helping of coleslaw on the side.
