Method

Breaded Chicken

  1. 1

    Prepare the Chicken

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels and season with salt and pepper.

  2. 2

    Bread the Chicken

Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with bread crumbs. Dip each chicken breast in flour, then eggs, and finally coat with bread crumbs.

  3. 3

    Bake the Chicken

Place the breaded chicken on a greased baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.

Meatloaf

  1. 4

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, eggs, ketchup, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.

  2. 5

    Shape the Meatloaf

Transfer the mixture to a loaf pan and shape into a loaf. Smooth the top with a spatula.

  3. 6

    Bake the Meatloaf

Bake in the preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C). Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Home-Style Gravy

  1. 7

    Make the Roux

In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

  2. 8

    Add Broth

Gradually whisk in the chicken broth, stirring constantly to prevent lumps. Bring to a simmer.

  3. 9

    Season the Gravy

Season with salt and pepper, and cook until thickened, about 5 minutes. Keep warm until serving.

Mashed Potatoes

  1. 10

    Boil the Potatoes

Place peeled and cubed potatoes in a large pot of salted water. Bring to a boil and cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 11

    Mash the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add butter, milk, salt, and pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.

Sweet Corn

  1. 12

    Cook the Corn

In a saucepan, heat the butter over medium heat. Add the frozen corn and cook until heated through, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 13

    Season the Corn

Add salt to taste, stirring to combine. Remove from heat.

House Salad

  1. 14

    Prepare the Salad Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine chopped lettuce, diced tomatoes, and sliced cucumber.

  2. 15

    Dress the Salad

In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, vinegar, salt, and pepper. Pour over the salad and toss to combine.

Dinner Rolls

  1. 16

    Prepare the Dough

In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy. Add flour, salt, and melted butter. Mix until a dough forms.

  2. 17

    Knead and Rise

Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.

  3. 18

    Shape and Bake the Rolls

Punch down the dough and divide into equal pieces. Shape into rolls and place on a baking sheet. Let rise for another 30 minutes. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
