Preparing the Cornbread

Preheat the Skillet

Place a cast iron skillet in the oven and preheat to 400°F (200°C).

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.

Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together milk, egg, melted butter, and IPA until well combined.

Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

Cook the Cornbread

Carefully remove the hot skillet from the oven, add a bit of butter to grease the bottom, and pour the cornbread batter into the skillet. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.

Making Chili Butter

Prepare Chili Butter

In a small bowl, mix softened butter with chili powder and salt to taste. Stir until well blended.

Serving

Serve

Cut the cornbread into wedges and serve warm with chili butter on the side.
