Method

Preparation

1

Prepare the Steak

Remove the ribeye steaks from the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before cooking. This allows for even cooking.

2

Season the Steak

Pat the steaks dry with paper towels. Rub each steak with olive oil and season generously on both sides with kosher salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

Cooking

3

Preheat the Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or cast iron skillet over high heat for about 5-10 minutes. You want it to be very hot to get a good sear.

4

Cook the Steak

Place the seasoned ribeye steaks on the hot grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving them. Flip the steaks and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, or longer if you prefer your steak more done.

5

Add Accompaniments (Optional)

In the last minute of cooking, add the butter and rosemary on top of the steaks. Baste with the melted butter for extra flavor.

Resting

6

Rest the Steak

Remove the steaks from the heat and let them rest on a cutting board for 5-10 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.
