Buttermilk Tres Leches Cake

Method

Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cake

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking dish.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Cream Butter and Sugar

In a separate bowl, cream together the unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

  4. 4

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

  5. 5

    Combine Wet and Dry

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with buttermilk. Mix until just combined.

  6. 6

    Bake the Cake

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  7. 7

    Prepare the Milk Mixture

In a bowl, combine the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and any remaining buttermilk. Mix well.

  8. 8

    Soak the Cake

Once the cake is done, let it cool for 10 minutes. Poke holes all over the top of the cake with a fork and pour the milk mixture over the cake, allowing it to soak in.

  9. 9

    Chill

Refrigerate the cake for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.

  10. 10

    Serve

Before serving, drizzle with Dulce de Leche and sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
