Black Bean Ingredients

Method

Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Soak the Beans

Rinse the black beans under cold water and then soak them in 3 cups of water for at least 8 hours or overnight.

  2. 2

    Cook the Beans

After soaking, drain the beans and rinse them again. Place the beans in a pot with 3 cups of fresh water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for about 1 to 1.5 hours, or until the beans are tender.

  3. 3

    Sauté Vegetables

In a separate pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until the onion is translucent.

  4. 4

    Combine and Season

Once the beans are cooked, drain any excess water and add them to the sautéed onion and garlic mixture. Stir in cumin, salt, black pepper, and lime juice. Cook for an additional 5-10 minutes to allow flavors to meld.

  5. 5

    Garnish

Remove from heat and stir in chopped cilantro before serving.
