Method

Pasta Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Spaghetti

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Bolognese Sauce Preparation

  1. 2

    Sauté the Vegetables

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, carrot, and celery. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are softened.

  2. 3

    Add Garlic and Meat

Add the minced garlic and ground beef to the skillet. Cook until the beef is browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.

  3. 4

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, sugar, salt, and black pepper. If using red wine, add it at this stage. Bring to a simmer.

  4. 5

    Simmer the Sauce

Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. This allows the flavors to meld together.

  5. 6

    Serve

Once the sauce is thickened and flavorful, serve it over the cooked spaghetti. Garnish with grated Parmesan cheese.
