Preparation
- 1
Mix the Meat
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground pork and ground beef. Use your hands or a spoon to mix thoroughly until well blended.
- 2
Add Spices and Seasonings
Sprinkle the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, red pepper flakes, and dried thyme over the meat mixture. Mix well until the spices are evenly distributed.
- 3
Incorporate Binders
Add the breadcrumbs and the egg to the meat mixture. Mix everything together until fully combined, ensuring the mixture holds together when formed into a patty or link.
- 4
Optional Add-ins
If desired, fold in the chopped parsley and shredded cheese for added flavor and texture.
Forming and Cooking
- 5
Shape the Sausage
Divide the mixture into equal portions. Shape each portion into either a patty or a link, depending on your preference.
- 6
Cook the Sausage
In a large skillet, heat a small amount of oil over medium heat. Add the formed sausage patties or links to the skillet. Cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C) and the sausage is browned and cooked through.
- 7
Serve
Once cooked, remove the sausages from the skillet and let them rest for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy them hot with your favorite sides.
