Cooking Spaghetti

Boil Water
Fill a large pot with water and bring it to a rolling boil over high heat.

Add Salt
Once the water is boiling, add 1 tablespoon of salt to the water.

Cook Spaghetti
Add the 400 grams of spaghetti to the boiling water. Cook according to the package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes, until al dente.

Drain Spaghetti
Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside.
Preparing Meat Sauce

Sauté Onion and Garlic
In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add 1 chopped medium onion and 3 minced garlic cloves. Sauté until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

Cook Ground Beef
Add 500 grams of ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 7-10 minutes.

Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Stir in 400 grams of canned tomatoes, 2 tablespoons of tomato paste, 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, 1 teaspoon of dried basil, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

Simmer Sauce
Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Serving

Combine Spaghetti and Sauce
Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet with the meat sauce. Toss to combine well.

Plate and Garnish
Serve the spaghetti with meat sauce on plates. Top with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves for garnish.
