Burger Patty

Bun and Toppings

Method

Preparing the Patty

  1. 1

    Form the Patty

In a bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined. Do not overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Shape the Patty

Form the mixture into a patty about 3/4 inch thick. Make a small indentation in the center of the patty to help it cook evenly.

Cooking the Burger

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patty

Place the patty on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes for medium doneness.

  3. 5

    Add Cheese

In the last minute of cooking, place the slice of cheddar cheese on top of the patty and cover to melt.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 6

    Toast the Bun

While the patty is cooking, toast the burger bun on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 7

    Layer the Ingredients

On the bottom half of the toasted bun, place the lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese, sliced tomatoes, pickles, and desired amounts of ketchup and mustard.

  3. 8

    Complete the Burger

Place the top half of the bun on the assembled ingredients to complete your cheeseburger.
