Method

For the Mozzarella Sticks

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Gather all the ingredients for the mozzarella sticks, including mozzarella cheese, flour, eggs, breadcrumbs, and seasonings.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

In three separate shallow bowls, place flour in the first bowl, beaten eggs in the second bowl, and a mixture of breadcrumbs, garlic powder, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper in the third bowl.

  3. 3

    Bread the Mozzarella Sticks

Coat each mozzarella stick first in flour, then dip into the beaten eggs, and finally coat with the breadcrumb mixture. Make sure each stick is well coated.

  4. 4

    Chill the Mozzarella Sticks

Place the breaded mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze for at least 30 minutes to firm up.

  5. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a deep pot or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  6. 6

    Fry the Mozzarella Sticks

Fry the mozzarella sticks in batches for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the mozzarella sticks hot with marinara sauce on the side.

For the Marinara Sauce

  1. 8

    Prepare the Marinara Sauce

In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  2. 9

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, and sugar. Bring to a simmer.

  3. 10

    Simmer the Sauce

Let the sauce simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.

  4. 11

    Taste and Adjust Seasoning

Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning if necessary. Remove from heat and keep warm until ready to serve.
