Toppings

Method

Beef Patty Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef Patty

In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until just combined; do not overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).

  2. 4

    Add Cheese and Sauce

During the last minute of cooking, place mozzarella cheese on top of each patty and spoon tomato sauce over the cheese. Cover with a lid to melt the cheese.

  3. 5

    Toast the Buns

While the cheese is melting, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Assemble the Burger

Place each beef patty with melted cheese and tomato sauce on the bottom half of the toasted bun. Top with fresh basil leaves and cover with the top half of the bun.
