Method

Waffle Batter Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Whisk together until well blended.

  2. 2

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth. Add the milk, eggs, and melted butter. Mix until fully combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix; small lumps are okay.

Cooking Waffles

  1. 4

    Preheat Waffle Iron

Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions.

  2. 5

    Cook Waffles

Once preheated, pour an appropriate amount of batter onto the waffle iron (usually about 1/2 to 3/4 cup depending on the iron). Close the lid and cook according to the manufacturer’s instructions, until the waffles are golden brown.

  3. 6

    Repeat

Continue cooking waffles until all the batter is used, keeping cooked waffles warm in a low oven if necessary.

Whipped Butter Preparation

  1. 7

    Soften Butter

Let the unsalted butter sit at room temperature until softened.

  2. 8

    Mix Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Use an electric mixer to whip until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

Serving

  1. 9

    Serve Waffles

Serve the banana waffles warm with a dollop of whipped butter on top and drizzle with maple syrup to taste.
