Fried Oysters
Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Breading
In a shallow bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, salt, and black pepper.
- 2
- 3
Bread the Oysters
Dip each shucked oyster into the wet mixture, allowing any excess to drip off, then dredge in the flour-cornmeal mixture until fully coated.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot but not smoking.
- 5
Fry the Oysters
Carefully add the breaded oysters to the hot oil, frying in batches if necessary, until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- 6
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried oysters from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot, topped with crumbled bleu cheese, chopped bacon, and a side of Remoulade sauce.
