Prepare the Duck Breasts
Score the skin of the duck breasts in a crosshatch pattern without cutting into the meat. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.

Make the Fig Glaze
In the same skillet, remove excess fat, leaving about 1 tablespoon. Add fig preserves and balsamic vinegar, stirring to combine. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the glaze thickens slightly.

Cook the Rice
Add chicken broth and thyme to the rice mixture. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes until rice is cooked and liquid is absorbed.

Finish the Pilaf
Once rice is cooked, stir in the pecan halves. Fluff with a fork.

Serve
Slice the duck breasts and plate them with the pecan rice pilaf. Drizzle the fig glaze over the duck and serve warm.
