Prepare the Duck
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Season the duck inside and out with salt and black pepper. Place on a roasting rack in a roasting pan.

Roast the Duck
Roast the duck in the preheated oven for about 1 hour and 30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Baste occasionally with the pan drippings.

Make the Orange Sauce
While the duck is roasting, combine orange juice, orange zest, sugar, and red wine vinegar in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves, then simmer for 10 minutes until thickened.

Add chicken stock to the sauce and simmer for another 5 minutes. Stir in butter and thyme until melted and combined.
