Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the aged beef steak from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This helps to ensure even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Rub the steak with olive oil, then season both sides with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.

Chips Preparation

  1. 3

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel the potatoes and cut them into thick chips (about 1 inch wide).

  2. 4

    Soak the Chips

Place the cut chips in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and makes for crispier chips.

  3. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 180°C (356°F).

  4. 6

    Fry the Chips

Drain the soaked chips and pat them dry with a kitchen towel. Carefully add the chips to the hot oil in batches and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Season with salt.

Salad Preparation

  1. 7

    Assemble the Salad

In a large bowl, combine the mixed salad greens, halved cherry tomatoes, and sliced cucumber.

  2. 8

    Dress the Salad

In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and black pepper. Drizzle the dressing over the salad and toss gently to combine.

Cooking the Steak

  1. 9

    Cook the Steak

Heat a skillet or grill pan over high heat. Once hot, add the seasoned steak and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness is achieved.

  2. 10

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the pan and let it rest for at least 5 minutes before slicing.
