Prepare the Salad Base
In a large bowl, combine the chopped lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, and carrots. Toss lightly to mix well.
Cooking the Protein
- 3
Cook the Steak or Chicken
Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Season the ribeye steak or chicken breast with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Cook for about 5-7 minutes per side for the steak or until the chicken is cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F). Remove from skillet and let rest for a few minutes before slicing.
- 4
Sauté the Vegetables
In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Add the chopped onions and bell peppers, and sauté for about 5-6 minutes, until they are soft and slightly caramelized.
Assembling the Salad
- 5
Combine and Serve
Slice the cooked steak or chicken into strips and place on top of the prepared salad base. Add the sautéed onions and peppers over the top. Finish with slices of provolone cheese, allowing them to melt slightly from the heat of the meat. Serve immediately.
