Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Slice the Meat

Thinly slice the ribeye steak or chicken breast against the grain into strips.

  2. 2

    Chop the Vegetables

Slice the onion and bell peppers into thin strips.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Sauté the Vegetables

In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and bell peppers, and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until they are softened and slightly caramelized. Season with a pinch of salt and black pepper. Remove from skillet and set aside.

  2. 4

    Cook the Meat

In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the sliced ribeye steak or chicken. Season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently, until the meat is cooked through.

  3. 5

    Combine Ingredients

Once the meat is cooked, return the sautéed vegetables to the skillet. Mix well and allow to cook together for an additional minute.

  4. 6

    Melt the Cheese

Place slices of provolone cheese over the meat and vegetable mixture. Cover the skillet and let it sit for 2-3 minutes until the cheese melts.

Serving

  1. 7

    Assemble the Sandwich

Split the submarine rolls lengthwise without cutting all the way through. Spoon the cheesy meat and vegetable mixture into each roll.

  2. 8

    Serve

Serve immediately while hot, optionally with additional toppings like hot sauce or mayonnaise.
