Method

For the Mozzarella Sticks

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cheese

Freeze the mozzarella cheese sticks for at least 1 hour until they're firm.

  2. 2

    Set up the Breading Station

In three separate bowls, place flour, beaten eggs, and bread crumbs mixed with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper.

  3. 3

    Bread the Cheese Sticks

Remove the cheese sticks from the freezer. Dip each stick first in flour, then in the egg, and finally coat with the bread crumbs. Ensure they are well-coated.

  4. 4

    Heat Oil

In a deep pot or fryer, heat vegetable oil to 375°F (190°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Mozzarella Sticks

Carefully place the breaded mozzarella sticks in the hot oil, frying them in batches for about 2-3 minutes until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

For the Homemade Spaghetti Sauce

  1. 6

    Sauté the Aromatics

In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

  2. 7

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Mix well.

  3. 8

    Simmer the Sauce

Bring the sauce to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and let it simmer uncovered for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened.

  4. 9

    Adjust Seasoning

Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning if necessary, adding more salt, pepper, or sugar to balance the flavors.
