Method
Base Preparation
- 1
Mix the Base
In a large mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Whisk until the sugar is completely dissolved and the mixture is smooth.
- 2
Chill the Mixture
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
Flavoring the Ice Cream
- 3
Choose Your Flavor
Once the base mixture is chilled, divide it into separate bowls depending on the number of flavors you want to create.
- 4
Add Flavorings
To each bowl, add the desired flavoring ingredients. For chocolate ice cream, mix in chocolate syrup. For strawberry, stir in pureed strawberries. For cookies and cream, fold in crushed cookies. For mint chocolate chip, add mint extract. For coffee ice cream, blend in brewed coffee.
- 5
Combine
Mix each flavor until fully incorporated. Taste and adjust sweetness if necessary.
Churning and Freezing
- 6
Churn the Ice Cream
Pour each flavor mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions, usually for about 20-25 minutes until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
- 7
Freeze the Ice Cream
Transfer the churned ice cream into airtight containers and freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm.
