Method
For the Dilly Chips
- 1
Prepare the Pickles
Drain the pickle slices and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- 2
Set Up the Breading Station
In a shallow bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, and black pepper. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until well combined.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Bread the Pickles
Dredge each pickle slice in the flour mixture, then dip it into the egg mixture, and finally coat it again with the flour mixture to ensure a crispy exterior.
- 5
Fry the Pickles
Carefully place the coated pickle slices into the hot oil in batches. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown, turning occasionally.
- 6
Drain the Chips
Remove the fried pickle chips from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
For the Ranch Dressing
- 7
Mix the Ingredients
In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sour cream, buttermilk, dried dill weed, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- 8
Blend Until Smooth
Whisk the ingredients together until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- 9
Chill the Dressing
Cover the ranch dressing and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
