Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prep the Ingredients

Wash the lettuce and tomato thoroughly. Slice the tomato into medium slices, and thinly slice the onion.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

In a bowl, gently mix the ground beef with salt and pepper to taste. Form the mixture into two equal-sized patties, about 3/4 inch thick.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the beef patties for about 4 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the burger reaches your desired doneness.

  2. 4

    Toast the Buns

While the burgers are cooking, slice the burger buns in half and toast them lightly on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

Assembly

  1. 5

    Assemble the Burger

Spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Place one lettuce leaf on each bun, followed by the cooked burger patty with melted cheese. Add tomato slices and onion slices on top. Close the burger with the top half of the bun.
