Method

Prepare the Egg Mixture

  1. 1

    Whisk the Ingredients

In a medium bowl, crack the eggs and beat them lightly with a whisk. Add the milk, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, and sugar. Continue whisking until all ingredients are well combined and the mixture is smooth.

Soak the Bread

  1. 2

    Dip the Bread Slices

Take each slice of thick bread and dip it into the egg mixture. Make sure to coat both sides thoroughly. Allow the bread to soak for about 30 seconds on each side to absorb the mixture.

Cook the French Toast

  1. 3

    Heat the Pan

In a large skillet or griddle, add the butter and heat it over medium heat until melted and bubbly.

  2. 4

    Cook the Bread

Place the soaked bread slices in the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. As you cook, you can sprinkle some raisins on top of each slice for added flavor.

Serve

  1. 5

    Plate and Garnish

Once cooked, remove the French toast from the skillet and place it on plates. Drizzle with maple syrup to taste and serve warm, garnished with additional raisins if desired.
