In a large mixing bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

Incorporate Boiling Water
Carefully stir in the boiling water (the batter will be thin).
- 5
Pour into Pans
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
- 6
Bake the Cakes
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool the Cakes
Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, remove from the pans and let them cool completely on a wire rack.
Frosting Preparation

In a medium bowl, mix together the cocoa powder and softened unsalted butter until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar, alternating with the whole milk, until the frosting reaches your desired consistency. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- 9
Frost the Cake
Once the cakes have completely cooled, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of frosting on top, then place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.
Serving
- 10
Serve with Ice Cream
Slice the chocolate cake and serve each slice with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.
