Preparation of Tomato Mixture

Chop Tomatoes
Dice the ripe tomatoes into small cubes and place them in a mixing bowl.

Add Basil and Garlic
Chop the fresh basil leaves and mince the garlic cloves. Add both to the bowl with the tomatoes.

Season the Mixture
Drizzle the olive oil and balsamic vinegar over the tomato mixture. Add salt and pepper to taste. Stir gently to combine.

Let it Marinate
Allow the mixture to sit for at least 15 minutes to let the flavors meld together.

Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Slice the Bread
Slice the baguette or Italian bread into 1/2 inch thick slices.

Toast the Bread
Arrange the slices on a baking sheet and toast them in the preheated oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.

Once the bread is toasted, remove it from the oven and let it cool slightly. Spoon the marinated tomato mixture generously onto each slice.
