Method

Burger Preparation

  1. 1

    Form the Burger Patties

In a mixing bowl, combine the lean ground steak with salt and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined. Form into two equal burger patties, ensuring they are about 1 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Cook the Burger Patties

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the burger patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness. Remove from heat and let rest.

  3. 3

    Toast the Buns

While the patties are resting, toast the burger buns in the same skillet until golden brown. This should take about 1-2 minutes.

Sautéed Onions Preparation

  1. 4

    Slice the Onions

Peel and slice the medium onion into thin rings.

  2. 5

    Sauté the Onions

In a separate skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions, salt, and pepper. Sauté for about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onions are soft and caramelized.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Assemble the Burger

Place the cooked burger patty on the bottom half of the toasted bun. Top with the sautéed onions, then place the top half of the bun on the burger.
