Fried Calamari

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Calamari

In a large bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Dredge the calamari rings in the flour mixture until well coated.

  2. 2

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  3. 3

    Fry the Calamari

Carefully add the dredged calamari to the hot oil in batches, frying for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  4. 4

    Add Cherry Peppers

In the last minute of frying, add the sliced cherry peppers and hot cherry peppers to the oil to fry briefly, then remove everything together.

  5. 5

    Serve

Serve the fried calamari hot, with sambal aioli on the side for dipping.
