Fried Shrimp
Method
Preparation
Make the Remoulade
In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, chopped capers, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, lemon juice, garlic powder, and parsley. Mix well and refrigerate until serving.
Prepare the Shrimp
In a bowl, mix the flour, cornmeal, and cajun seasoning. Dip each shrimp in buttermilk, then dredge in the flour mixture.
Fry the Shrimp
Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat. Fry shrimp in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Make the Hoagie
In a large bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Add warm water and olive oil. Knead until smooth, then let rise for 1 hour. Shape into hoagie rolls and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes.
Assemble the Sandwich
Slice the hoagie rolls and layer with lettuce, tomato slices, pickles, and fried shrimp. Drizzle with the remoulade before closing the sandwich.
