Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add 1 teaspoon of salt to the boiling water.

  2. 2

    Cook Pasta

Add 2 cups of pasta to the boiling water. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Drain Pasta

Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside.

Preparing Tomato Sauce

  1. 4

    Heat Olive Oil

In a large skillet over medium heat, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil.

  2. 5

    Sauté Onions and Garlic

Once the oil is hot, add 1 chopped medium onion and 2 minced garlic cloves. Sauté until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

  3. 6

    Add Tomatoes and Spices

Add 28 ounces of crushed canned tomatoes, 1 teaspoon of dried basil, 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, 1 teaspoon of sugar, 0.5 teaspoon of salt, and 0.25 teaspoon of black pepper to the skillet. Stir to combine.

  4. 7

    Simmer Sauce

Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  5. 8

    Finish Sauce

Stir in 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh parsley just before serving.

Combining Pasta and Sauce

  1. 9

    Combine

Add the drained pasta to the skillet with the tomato sauce. Toss to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.

  2. 10

    Serve

Serve hot, garnished with additional parsley if desired.
