Method

Cooking the Sausages

  1. 1

    Cook the Sausages

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the Irish pork sausages for about 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally until they are browned and cooked through.

Preparing Mashed Potatoes

  1. 2

    Boil the Potatoes

Peel and chop the potatoes into equal chunks. Place them in a pot of salted water and bring to a boil. Cook for about 15-20 minutes or until tender.

  2. 3

    Mash the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add butter, milk, salt, and pepper. Mash until creamy and smooth. Keep warm.

Making Irish Baked Beans

  1. 4

    Heat the Baked Beans

In a small saucepan, combine the canned baked beans, brown sugar, mustard, and black pepper. Heat over medium heat until warmed through, about 5-7 minutes.

Preparing Gravy

  1. 5

    Make the Gravy

In a saucepan, bring the beef broth to a simmer. Mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Gradually stir the slurry into the simmering broth until thickened, about 2-3 minutes. Season with salt.

Crispy Onion Strings

  1. 6

    Prepare the Onion Strings

Slice the onion into thin rings. In a bowl, toss with flour and salt until well coated. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat.

  2. 7

    Fry the Onion Strings

Fry the onion rings in the hot oil until golden brown and crispy, about 3-5 minutes. Remove them and drain on paper towels.

Assembly

  1. 8

    Plate the Dish

On a large plate, place a serving of mashed potatoes, top with sausages, spoon over the gravy, and serve with a side of baked beans. Finish with crispy onion strings on top.
