Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring water to a rolling boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the water.

  2. 2

    Cook Pasta

Add 200 grams of pasta to the boiling water. Stir occasionally and cook according to package instructions until al dente.

  3. 3

    Drain Pasta

Once cooked, reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta in a colander. Set aside.

Making Tomato Sauce

  1. 4

    Heat Oil

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.

  2. 5

    Sauté Onions

Add 1 finely chopped medium onion to the skillet and sauté for about 5 minutes, or until translucent.

  3. 6

    Add Garlic

Stir in 2 minced garlic cloves and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  4. 7

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Pour in 400 grams of canned tomatoes. Add 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, 1 teaspoon of dried basil, and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

  5. 8

    Simmer Sauce

Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.

  6. 9

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained pasta to the sauce. If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water in small amounts until desired consistency is reached. Mix well.
