Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). This ensures that the cakes bake evenly.

Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the semi-sweet chocolate and unsalted butter together, stirring frequently until smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
Mixing the Batter

Combine Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking powder, and a pinch of salt.

Add Eggs and Vanilla
Add the large eggs, large egg yolk, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until fully combined.

Baking the Cakes

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.
