Method

For the Mozzarella Sticks

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cheese

Cut the mozzarella cheese into sticks if not pre-cut, ensuring they are about 4 inches long.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Stations

In three separate shallow bowls, place the flour in the first, beat the eggs in the second, and mix the bread crumbs, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper in the third.

  3. 3

    Bread the Cheese Sticks

Coat each mozzarella stick first in flour, then dip it in the beaten eggs, and finally coat it with the breadcrumb mixture. Press the crumbs onto the cheese to ensure they stick. Repeat for all sticks.

  4. 4

    Chill the Cheese Sticks

Place the breaded cheese sticks on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 30 minutes to help them hold their shape during frying.

  5. 5

    Heat Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  6. 6

    Fry the Cheese Sticks

Carefully add the frozen mozzarella sticks to the hot oil in batches. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

For the Marinara Sauce

  1. 7

    Cook the Garlic

In a saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  2. 8

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Pour in the crushed tomatoes, dried basil, salt, and sugar. Stir to combine.

  3. 9

    Simmer the Sauce

Let the sauce simmer on low heat for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Adjust seasoning with black pepper as needed.
