Dumpling Ingredients

Method

Dumpling Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and water. Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Make the Filling

In a skillet, heat sesame oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and ginger, sautéing until the onion is translucent. Add the mushrooms and grated carrot, cooking until the mushrooms are soft. Stir in soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat and let it cool.

  3. 3

    Assemble the Dumplings

Divide the dough into small balls (about the size of a golf ball). Roll each ball into a thin circle. Place a spoonful of the filling in the center of each circle. Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape and pinch the edges to seal.

  4. 4

    Steam the Dumplings

Prepare a steamer basket lined with parchment paper. Place the dumplings in the steamer, ensuring they don’t touch each other. Steam over boiling water for about 15-20 minutes until the dough is translucent.

  5. 5

    Serve

Serve the steamed dumplings warm with extra soy sauce for dipping.
