Cooking Instructions
Prepare the Oven and Dish
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
Slice the Potatoes
Peel the Russet potatoes and slice them thinly, about 1/8 inch thick.
Layer the Ingredients
In the greased baking dish, layer half of the potato slices, followed by half of the minced garlic, half of the thyme leaves, salt, and pepper. Sprinkle with half of the Gruyère cheese. Repeat with the remaining potato slices and seasonings, finishing with the remaining cheese on top.
Add Cream
Pour the heavy cream evenly over the layered potatoes and cheese.
Bake the Gratinée
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the potatoes are tender.
Serve
Let it rest for a few minutes before serving warm.
