Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Squid
Clean and slice the squid into rings, ensuring they are evenly cut for uniform cooking.
- 2
Slice the Vegetables
Thinly slice the onion and bell pepper, setting aside for later use.
Batter Preparation
- 3
Mix the Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
- 4
Add Cold Water
Gradually pour in the cold water while whisking until the batter is smooth and has a slightly thick consistency.
Frying
- 5
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).
- 6
Coat the Squid
Dip each squid ring into the batter, allowing the excess to drip off before placing it in the hot oil.
- 7
Fry the Squid
Fry the squid rings in batches for about 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy. Avoid overcrowding the pan.
- 8
Fry the Vegetables
In the same oil, add the sliced onion and bell pepper and fry for 1-2 minutes until they are slightly tender but still crisp.
- 9
Drain the Excess Oil
Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried squid and vegetables from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
Serving
- 10
Plate the Dish
Arrange the fried squid and vegetables on a serving platter.
- 11
Garnish and Serve
Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve hot with lemon wedges on the side.
