Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ham

Remove the Black Forest ham from the packaging and place it on a clean cutting board.

  2. 2

    Score the Surface

Using a sharp knife, make shallow cuts in a diamond pattern on the surface of the ham. This will help the spices penetrate the meat.

Spice Mixture

  1. 3

    Mix Spices

In a small bowl, combine the black pepper, garlic powder, paprika, brown sugar, and Dijon mustard. Mix well to form a paste.

  2. 4

    Apply Spice Mixture

Rub the spice mixture all over the scored surface of the ham, ensuring it is evenly coated.

Cooking

  1. 5

    Prepare to Cook

Preheat your oven to 160°C (325°F). Place the ham in a roasting pan and pour the water into the bottom of the pan.

  2. 6

    Roast the Ham

Cover the ham loosely with aluminum foil and roast in the preheated oven for approximately 1.5 hours.

  3. 7

    Glaze the Ham

Remove the foil for the last 30 minutes of cooking to allow the surface to caramelize and develop a nice glaze.

Serving

  1. 8

    Rest and Slice

Once cooked, remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for 15 minutes. Slice and serve, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
