Chicken Marinade

Teriyaki Sauce

Method

Prep Chicken

  1. 1

    Marinate the Chicken

In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, grated ginger, minced garlic, and sesame oil. Whisk until the sugar is dissolved.

  2. 2

    Add Chicken

Add the chicken breasts to the marinade, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for more flavor.

Prepare Teriyaki Sauce

  1. 3

    Mix Cornstarch and Water

In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with water until smooth. Set aside.

  2. 4

    Cook Marinade

In a saucepan over medium heat, bring the remaining marinade to a simmer. Stir in the cornstarch mixture and additional soy sauce. Cook until thickened, about 3-5 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

Cook Chicken

  1. 5

    Grill or Sauté Chicken

Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Remove chicken from marinade and cook for about 6-7 minutes per side or until fully cooked (internal temperature of 165°F/74°C).

  2. 6

    Slice Chicken

Once cooked, allow the chicken to rest for a few minutes, then slice it into strips.

Assemble Sandwich

  1. 7

    Prepare Rolls

Slice the whole wheat sandwich rolls in half and toast lightly if desired.

  2. 8

    Layer Ingredients

Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of each roll. Add lettuce leaves, sliced cucumbers, sliced chicken, and sweet onions.

  3. 9

    Finish Sandwich

Drizzle the teriyaki sauce over the top and sprinkle with black sesame seeds before closing the sandwich.
